KISHTWAR , MAR 28 (KNO) : A Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured on Wednesday in Kishtwar district when his service rifle went off accidentally.
Police sources said SPO Suresh Kumar S/O Boopa Ram R/O Durbeel ,block Chatroo Kishtwar district was injured in District court canteen when his service refile went off accidentally . SPO was on Court duty . He was shifted to District Hospital Kishtwar from where he was shifted to GMC Jammu for treatment.Although designated as police officers, the SPOs draw much lesser remuneration than a police constable. T
hey are also not given the basic training in handling weapons as is mandatory for policemen in the country.(KNO)
